Are e-cigarettes safe ?

Smoking electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) has quickly become a popular source for nicotine. Many use e-cigs as a safe way to quit smoking cigarettes. However, the long-term effects of e-cigs are still unknown. E-cigs contain nicotine, propylene glycol or glycerin, and different flavorings. There have been reports of quitting success with e-cigs, but they should not be considered “safe”. E-cigs can cause acute lung disease, atrial fibrillation, and nicotine poisoning. Studies reporting long-term effects of e-cigs on users are needed.
