Physical activity is an easy way we can improve our overall health and quality of life. Some of the benefits of physical activity include prevention or delay of diabetes and high blood pressure, reduced risk for certain cancers, and a happier mood. You might be wondering what types of things are considered physical activity. It has been shown that the most benefits come with two types of activity- aerobic and muscle strengthening. Aerobic activities are things that get your heart rate up such as walking, riding a bike, and jogging. Muscle-strengthening activities include lifting weights, body-weight exercises such as pushups and sit ups, and yoga. Try to add some of these activities to your weekly routine!
