The Salt of Life

Did you know that you might be getting more salt that you need, even if you never pick up the salt shaker? According to the American Heart Association, about 70% of the salt that you eat comes from packaged and restaurant foods. They recommend that you consume no more than 2,300 mg of salt a day (food and drink combined)! One simple way to help reduce your sodium is to pay attention to food labels and choose the lowest sodium option as possible. Try looking for canned vegetables labeled “no salt added” and frozen vegetables without salty sauces.
